As part of the programme, the students engaged in an intensive training process that included workshops, daily practice, and exchange with French colleagues. Special focus was placed on stage movement, acting expression, and contemporary circus practices.

The residency concluded with a final performance presented by the participants in the space of the contemporary art museum Les Abattoirs (Musée – Frac Occitanie Toulouse), where the students showcased the creative work developed during their stay.

A round table was also held as part of the programme, bringing together representatives of the academy, French partners, and international experts to discuss key issues in circus education, international collaboration, and support for emerging artists. The participants of the round table included: Pascal Jacob, artistic director of Cirque Phénix and circus historian; Roman Khafizov (Cirque Inshi); Nina Araya, assistant to the rector at KMACPA; Isabel Joly, director of the European Federation of Circus Schools; and Rebecca Duclos, professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Concordia University (Montreal), member of ELIA, and director of the Steering Committee of the UAx Platform.

Originally from Kyiv and currently studying at one of the most prestigious art universities in Finland, Olena shared her personal journey of applying to and studying at the Sibelius Academy. She spoke about the Academy’s educational programmes, opportunities for international students, the Master’s degree pathway, and gave valuable practical advice for vocalists and musicians.

Special attention was paid to student life in Helsinki, the cultural environment of Finland, and the challenges and opportunities of studying abroad. The meeting took place in a warm and open atmosphere and generated great interest among both students and teachers.

The Kyiv Municipal Academy of Performing and Circus Arts participated in the international UAx Day and ELIA Conference, which took place on 14 October 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, at HEAD – Genève.

The event brought together representatives of leading European art institutions to exchange experience, strengthen partnerships, and discuss the future of higher art education in times of crisis. Participation in this conference allowed our Academy to present its vision, share its experience, and further develop international cooperation within the European artistic community.

This presence marks another important step in strengthening the Academy’s international visibility and building long-term connections with European partners.

The conference took place at a leading arts institution in Oslo and brought together rectors and representatives of arts universities from different European countries. The event focused on current trends in arts education, international mobility, institutional partnerships, and the role of higher arts institutions in today’s socio-cultural context.

The Rector’s participation contributed to strengthening the Academy’s international connections, establishing new professional contacts, and expanding opportunities for future cooperation with European arts institutions.

Ms. Giedrė Kabašinskienė familiarized herself with the creative work of the Academy’s students and visited classes, highly appreciating the professional level of their training.

As part of the visit, an important meeting was held with graduate students and lecturers of the educational and professional program “Musical Arts” (Head of the Department – Svitlana Zaria). The master’s students were pleased to demonstrate their talents and actively participated in the discussion, expressing strong interest in academic mobility programs and joint creative projects. They discussed opportunities for internships and participation in master classes, which would help enrich their international experience.

Special attention was given to the Academy’s library. Ms. Giedrė Kabašinskienė ознакомилась with the Academy’s scientific collection “ART Platform”, which reflects current research in the field of arts. She was also introduced to specialized literature on accessibility and inclusive practices in arts education, an important development direction for the Academy.

The highlight of the visit was a meeting with the Academy’s Rector Oleksandr Yakovlev. Ms. Giedrė Kabašinskienė and the Rector exchanged experiences regarding the work of their educational institutions. The main topic of discussion was the prospects for further cooperation, particularly within the framework of the Erasmus+ international program.

During the program, participants were involved in creative workshops, cultural events, and joint performances, which promoted intercultural dialogue and exchange of experience.

The final highlight of the project was a performance at an international conference, where young artists presented their artistic piece dedicated to the theme of unity and mutual understanding between nations.

The aim of the exchange is the integration of young people, the development of their creative abilities, familiarization with the culture and traditions of the neighboring country, as well as fostering tolerance and respect for diversity.

Her participation in the program became possible thanks to winning the international UAx Abakanowicz Fellowship Programme for the 2024–2025 academic year, which provides financial support for students from Ukraine, as well as mentorship and opportunities to реализувати творчі проєкти. One of these projects was Anna’s participation in the LCDS summer school.

The study program of the school covered a wide range of contemporary dance techniques, theatrical practices, and improvisation. Over the two weeks, Anna had the opportunity to work with leading British choreographers and teachers, including:
Anna Helsby, Baptiste Bourgougnon, Jreena Green, Jane Chan, Manuela Albrecht, Jeannie Steele, Lewis Wilkins, Amarnah Amuludun, Anna Finkel, Megan Griffiths, Becca Dodd, Noor Darwish, Sara Rowlands, Jon Rodd, Ponciano Almeida, Jo Cork, Kate Rogan, Samantha Haynes and Sasha Roubicek.

Participation in the international program became an important stage in Anna’s professional development, allowing her to deepen her knowledge of different contemporary dance techniques, become familiar with the cultural specifics of global dance traditions, and expand her own creative toolkit.

The Kyiv Municipal Academy of Variety and Circus Arts and the Department of Choreography support the individual development paths of their students and their participation in international educational initiatives, contributing to the formation of highly qualified professionals open to creative experimentation, innovation, and global artistic dialogue.

As part of the project, a series of online workshops were held, becoming a true platform for experience exchange and cultural enrichment. Representatives from London introduced participants to Cunningham technique, Gaga, and release technique. In turn, Ukrainian educators led workshops on contemporary Ukrainian dance and delivered an engaging lecture on incorporating circus elements into choreography.

This project became a vivid example of inspiring collaboration, where each side learned from the other, discovering new facets of professional mastery and creativity.
